Post Festival Recovery

The festival goer’s experience is not only about the number of hours danced or about maximizing your ability to stay awake dancing all day or night with your friends. Conquering a festival is also about defeating the post-festival recovery process. Yes, that’s right! Recovery is just as important. After all, once the festival is all said and done, life moves on. Prepare yourself to be ready for every next adventure. This blog will provide a list of tips for how a festival goer can recover both during and after a festival event.

Hydrate Properly

It is crucial to remain hydrated not only during the festival, but also throughout the days leading up to the festival. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. Make sure to stock up on plenty of water. Drinking water will help to replenish your body with fluids and flush out any harmful toxins.

Drinking water will help to replenish your body with fluids and flush out any harmful toxins. Keeping a pitcher of water with a Brita filter nearby your rest spot is a great way to make sure you have fresh water at all times. If you are looking for an extra hydration boost, try a beverage high in electrolytes, like Liquid I.V., which can deliver fluids to your bloodstream faster and more efficiently. One serving of Liquid I.V. alone can provide the same amount of fluid hydration as 2-3 bottles of water.

To avoid dehydration, stay away from caffeine. While you would think that caffeine would revitalize your body, it is actually a diuretic and can lead to greater dehydration. Remember that it’s all about keeping yourself hydrated and flushing out toxins. The last thing you would want is to end up paying a visit to the emergency room because you’re dehydrated.

Catch Some ZZZ’s

Caffeine or not, by the time the festival is over, chances are you are going to need toothpicks to keep your eyes open. Your body will be begging for rest, loud and clear. Make sure to catch up on sleep every night. If you are staying in a hotel, most places have an option for late check out. This is something you may want to consider to ensure that you’re getting the maximum amount of sleep and rest needed. If you have trouble sleeping, take a moment to make sure you’re in an ideal sleeping environment. Set the thermometer to 60-67 degrees and remove any distracting noise or lights.

Follow up indulgent days with healthy balanced meals and vegetables (yes, veggies!). As a quick to-go option, grab a smoothie. When you are in recovery mode, your body needs a healthy balanced diet and a good detox. Here are some additional detox tips for your festival adventure recovery:

Follow up indulgent days with healthy balanced meals and vegetables (yes, veggies!). As a quick to-go option, grab a smoothie. When you are in recovery mode, your body needs a healthy balanced diet and a good detox. Here are some additional detox tips for your festival adventure recovery:

Tip #1: Cleanse with your diet. Include high fiber grains, such as oats, whole wheat, fruits, and vegetables in your daily diet. These nutrients contain fibers that bind with excess fat and aid with detoxification. Green leafy vegetables, bell peppers and tomatoes are ultra rich in Vitamin C which will also help with detox.

Tip #2: Fill up with the right supplements. Swap out alcohol shots for ginger shots, earth’s natural caffeine. You can also add coconut oil to anything. The anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, antioxidant and anti-fungal properties of coconut oil will help soothe your skin on the outside and cleanse your gut from the inside.

Tip #3: Exercise. The idea of doing a round of cardio after partying all weekend may sound crazy, but exercising actually releases endorphins that can help reduce physical pain and improve your mood. Yoga is also a great way to exercise and relax during recovery.

Tip #4: Shower power. Detox not only your body, but also your mind. Refresh by washing away the filth and the grime. For some extra pampering, include some stress relieving bath salts in a bath or incorporating scents like lavender oil for a calming and relaxing effect.

With these festival recovery tips marked off your checklist, you’ll be able to say that you have officially conquered the before, during and after of your festival adventure. Enjoy!
